I.A.T.S.E. Local 489 Studio Mechanics Shop Craft Training

In partnership with the I.A.T.S.E. Local 489 and the Pittsburgh Film Office, Reel Works is hosting an intensive training program to prepare rising Pittsburgh professionals with the essential skills needed to work successfully as Shop Craftpersons (Carpenters) – a first step toward a career in the entertainment industry.

This training is made possible by the support of Pittsburgh Film Office.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Be at least 18+ years of age

  • Legally eligible to work in the US

  • Be a Pennsylvania resident and able to provide proof of address within a 50-mile radius of Downtown Pittsburgh

  • Must have experience using hand and power tools

  • Must have a desire to work in the TV and Film industry

  • Should know how to read blueprints (recommended)

There is no fee for this program. Each trainee is paid a stipend for participating in training.
