Train & Earn
Media Career Pathways
Train & Earn (Media Career Pathways) is an innovative initiative centered on dismantling barriers preventing out-of-school, out-of-work (OSOW) young adults from participating in NYC’s $28 billion entertainment industry.
The goal of a WIOA-funded Train & Earn Program is to provide comprehensive occupational and work readiness training for OSOW youth for entry into high-growth occupations tied to in-demand sectors.

Program Details
The Train & Earn program trains participants to be career-ready for the media and entertainment industry. For this Fall cohort, we will offer two certifications for participants to choose from:
Editing: Adobe Certified Professional in Digital Video Using Adobe Premiere
An Editor is responsible for overseeing a film’s assembly. They work closely with the Director and Producers to create a final version of the story that represents the Filmmakers’ vision. An Editor works with the Colorist and Sound Editor during Post-Production.
Students must be:
16 - 24 years of age
Basic skills deficient
English language learner
Court-involved
Homeless, runaway, in foster care, or aged out
Pregnant or parenting
Living with a disability
In need of additional support to complete school or gain employment
Have a goal to pursue a career in the media or entertainment industry
Color Correction: Blackmagic Design DaVinci Resolve Color Certification
Colorists work closely with a film’s Director and Cinematographer to determine what color palette will best serve the story. After an Editor assembles the film, Colorists are involved in the color grade — one of the very final stages of the Post-Production process.
Participants gain:
Hands-on training in media editing and post-production color correction
Work-readiness workshops to build essential career skills
Paid work experience with industry professionals
Job placement assistance and career counseling
Supportive services, including mentorship and financial literacy training
